Culture and life

Compact but well-equipped

is the most suitable description of Taiwan’s geographical distribution. The unique geographical environment of the Central Mountains that runs through Taiwan has created a world-famous tea culture.

Temple culture: In addition to spiritual sustenance, the architectural and artistic value of the temples themselves are the inheritance of centuries of culture. Many temples are listed as national monuments.

Night market culture: Across Taiwan, every county and city has its own unique Taiwanese snack flavor.

Aboriginal culture: There are currently 16 officially recognized ethnic groups in Taiwan, each with its own unique language, art and ritual traditions. Do you want to experience Aboriginal culture? Then come to Taiwan to participate in the Aboriginal Harvest Festival!

Island life: The biggest difference from the United States is the size. The distance between people is shortened and relationships are closer. There is also a favorite among cyclists, “Cycling Around the Island in 14 Days”, which covers the beautiful scenery of Taiwan. If you like cycling, welcome to Taiwan to challenge it!

Taiwanese communities around the world

Taiwanese associations around the world help people maintain cultural connections, build community, support newcomers, and introduce Taiwan to the communities where they live.

Spokane Taiwanese Association serves that role in the Inland Northwest by helping Taiwanese families connect with one another while sharing Taiwan’s culture with the wider Spokane community.
